Single Family Residential / Amenity Designs

Wright's Mill Community Pool Addition

Madison, MS

This amenity center, featuring a 3000 SF saltwater pool, a raised sunning terrace with waterfalls into the pool, a shallow children's play area with geysers, trellis, frogs streaming water into the pool and a restroom facility, was added to an existing stone and wood pavilion. One challenge was creating an interesting family oriented pool facility with multiple spaces for various groups to enjoy at the same time within a firm all-inclusive budget of $500,000. Another challenge was making the existing pavilion and proposed elements feel as though they were built at the same time.

Lakefront Estate Home

Madison, MS

The owners of an existing lakefront home decided they wanted to add a pool and spa. In order to maintain flexibility for the use of their back yard space, we nestled the pool into an opening behind the house, leaving enough sod to the side for other uses. In order to make the pool feel as though it had always been there, we carried the same brick from the house down to the pool area.

The elevation difference from the house down to the proposed pool was approximately 4' so we designed 3 terraces with steps and retaining walls to connect the two spaces. These retaining walls helped connect the spaces but also provided for much needed space for guests to sit.

One significant factor in the design was creating view corridors from the pool area to the lake. Planning ahead of time where these views would be was the starting point for the design of the pool and location of seating spaces around the pool.
